I don't know about you but I love music of all genres and I especially enjoy someone who can play guitar really well. Some people seem to have a real knack but when I talk to them they almost all have told me that it came with practice and in order to learn to play guitar like a pro, lessons really help regardless of one's natural abilities.
I have been messing around playing for several years but never took guitar lessons. My method of play was very hit and miss and I knew absolutely nothing about music theory and things like that. I would learn a few chords here and there and managed to play a couple of songs decently but for the most part my playing progression was going nowhere and consequently my interest level was dropping as well.
That changed when I went to a camp-out one night and you know how those things can be…well, there were a couple of guys playing and everyone was having a really good time when somehow the guitar got passed to me and I played one of the better songs I knew. What a surprise I had when everyone there commented on how good the song was and it was a fun and enjoyable experience. I felt myself becoming hooked and drawn again towards learning to play guitar.
From that experience I became really interested in trying to truly master the instrument and I decided to take action. I like doing and learning things on my own and since the internet is a great way to do that I decided to see what was available. We all know that although the power of the internet is awesome, that it is often necessary to weed through the hype to find the pearls. With that in mind I started a search for a source that provided guitar lessons that were easy to follow, with reasonable prices but would get the job done. After all, my goal was to master the guitar and learn to play like a real Pro.
It is my belief that any good guitar teaching source will have quality lessons that can take you step-by-step covering all the basics that are so important. It's like you have to learn 2 +2 = 4 before you go on to advance math -right? Naturally modern teaching aids such as sound and video files are essential and to be expected with any first rate course. Also, I don't know about you, but for me I like things presented in an easy to understand and down to earth manner.
In addition to the lessons that I started to take I discovered something else that greatly helped my playing abilities and that was by making friends with other people that play guitar and actually getting together as often as you can, but at least once a week to share techniques and new things you 've learned. I highly recommend this for anyone learning the guitar, from the beginner and even to someone that has been playing all their lives. Isn't that the reason why we learn to play? The common bond that music brings and the opportunity to share that with others is for me the main reason for playing.
A lot of your success will depend on your level of commitment to learning to play. It's like the old saying, "the more you put in, the more you'll get out of it." The one that truly benefits from playing is you. I have spent many hours playing and it brings a sense of self satisfaction. It is fun and a joy to learn new songs and for me when I make a new discovery by learning a new rift or melodic progression it is like stepping up to a higher elevation and you can feel that you are becoming better and better. Nothing is more rewarding! If you love music and guitar, take lessons, practice, socialize and play with other guitar players and I promise you will discover pleasure that you would not think possible.
